Here's A Kid's Birthday Party Solution For Divorced Parents

Are you the parent who doesn't get to throw a party for your child on their birthday because of your visitation agreement?  Are you the grandparent who doesn't get invited to the birthday party?  You do the best you can with a celebration either before or after the actual date, but, it's just not the same.  There's a solution to this problem.  Throw a HALF birthday party!

In truth, half birthday parties can be even more fun that the regular party.  You bake half a cake.  If you're not a baker, buy the cake and cut it in half.  Sing half of the birthday song or every other word.  Fill the cups half full.  You'll think of lots of things to make it a special half birthday party.  As your child grows older it will become a funnier party because the child can add their own "half" touches.

There are websites that offer supplies to make your party even more festive and "official".  You don't have to go all out.  All you need is a good sense of humor.  We already know that all kids celebrate their half birthday by adding a half to their age.  To them it's a big deal to be almost another year older.  Experience has taught me that kids absolutely love doing something silly where they're the center of attention.  Let this be your chance to add a happy time when your child adds that half to their age.

Divorce is difficult on most levels.  The negotiations for the honor of raising children can be heated at times.  A very high majority of parents want to be included in all of the milestones in a child's life.  Birthdays are usually negotiated to be every other year or are "traded" off for some other holiday.  Children can't help but feel being pulled from one parent (or grandparent) to another.  This is such a sad thing when it's their BIRTHDAY.

Don't let your visitation situation leave you out.  Start a new tradition and create wonderful, funny, lifetime memories.
