What is the deal with planned parenthood?? is it a free clinic?

Well, it's not free. Often they work on a sliding scale, which means they charge by income. You can donate, and in MN there is state funding as well (maybe in other ones, I know for sure in MN though)
They do work with men, helping on family planning, and STD tests. Mainly women go there for info/help with birth control, STDs, family planning, and other womens health matters.
Anything else, I used to volunteer at PP so I know a few things, but I'm not quite sure what you're trying to find out, so I don't want to write a ton of stuff that you're not actually interested in learning... (^_^)
