Discover Your Personality Type to Find a Rewarding and Satisfying Career
Research shows us many people are in the wrong job, and sadly, lots of them have been there for a number of years.
You have to ask yourself why people stay in a job they dislike. However, there are many reasons for this, for example, when they came out of college perhaps they thought that was the ideal job or career for them. Or, they could have had pressure from their parents to find a decent job and settle down. Perhaps they just needed a job to earn enough money to live on, and find themselves still in it after many years.
Human beings are a complex species, there isn't just one reason why so many people are unhappy in their careers or jobs. Having been a careers adviser and a certified Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) trainer for several years, I know most of the individuals I see in career transition, don't really understand what makes them tick, and have no idea of the type of job or career that will suit them as individuals.
It's really important to look within ourselves and work out our preferences, sometimes this is known as personality type. It's nothing new and has been around for centuries, even the ancient Greeks used personality assessments.
To understand what you need from a job or career you have to look at what you do naturally, for example:
1. What energizes you - being with people or spending time alone?
2. How do you take in information - do you notice the small details or do you make abstract connections?
3. How do you make your decisions - do you like to look at the facts or are you more interested in how it will affect the people involved?
4. What is your attitude to life - easy going or organized?
Working out what you prefer from these four functions will help you to understand more about yourself, your personality type and how you can find satisfying work to make you happy.
