McCanns To Move Out Of Spotlight
The parents of missing youngster Madeleine McCann are flying back to Portugal.
Kate and Gerry McCann have been in Morocco as part of their campaign to find the four-year-old. It has been been 40 days since Madeleine was snatched from her bed in the family's holiday apartment in the Algarve.
The McCanns said they would now take some time out to grieve for their missing daughter. They have said they will step back from the media spotlight but the search for their four-year-old will carry on. "Our role in the campaign will probably not be as public as it has been during the last three weeks," said Mr McCann.
"We certainly want to take time to reflect on what has been achieved and how best we can help the investigation. There will be a period of reflection."
The couple are also keen to get back to Praia da Luz - the scene of Madeleine's abduction - to spend time with their two-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie.
They have said
I think it's good for them to get out of the media. They do need time to think things through and grieve their daughter. It's got to be driving them crazy knowing that there's a possibility she could still be out there. They're so helpless & my deepest sympathies are with them. I can't imagine what they're going through.
The sad part is: I'd put money on it that the media won't leave them alone.
