
Is our country doing the right thing by keeping prostitution illegal?
On one hand, legalizing prostitution would probably make the industry safer, and my friends have argued that if they were a single parent in desperate need of money, they would want to be able to do this. But I think prostitution inherently promotes objectification and hedonism, and that legalizing it would not erase its stigma in the US. I wonder what you guys, esp. from other cultures/countries where it's legal, think.
Well Prostitution is not illegal in the USA. The legality of it is left up to the states. That's why you can go to Nevada and get Prostitutes. In fact Prostitution is considered a very valid occupation by the federal government
I do agree with though in this respect , that weather it was legal every where or not there would still be some what of a stigma. All you have to do is look at "exotic" dancers , this is legal almost everywhere and has been for many years but there is still a stigma attached with it
